Prof. Teivo Teivainen
Dr. Teivo Teivainen is Professor of World Politics at the University of Helsinki, previously Head of Political Science Department. He is currently Chair of the Finland’s National UNESCO Commission and a Research Director at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies. He has worked as consultant for various kinds of local and global organizations.
Teivainen’s awards include Amartya Sen Prize of Yale University, Hopkins Award of the American Sociological Association and Outstanding Activist Scholar Award of the International Studies Association. In Finland, he has received Academy of Finland Recognition Award, Pro Feminism Award, JV Snellman Public Information Award, and Ovet Award for advancing knowledge about Russia in Finland.
He regularly appears on TV and radio programs, and his interviews range from the New York Times and Financial Times to smaller media outlets in various parts of the world. His most recent book is about transnational uses of the hooked cross (Swastika) symbol, and the next one is about liberalism and property rights.
